Neighbourhood
Rosedale United Church is located in the heart of the Rosedale neighbourhood, and we believe that we have a part to play in this area of the city remaining a good place to live, known not only for gracious homes and tree lined streets but also for solid human community, people attentive to one another, and being a place of compassion and health.
Church Programs
While it may go without saying, the many programs we offer here are for whomever will come, and many who are not members of the congregation take part in the variety of programs and ministries we offer.
Community Groups
Many community groups use the building here, and we are pleased to be a host to them :
- Gradale Academy
- Metropolitan School of the Arts
- Alcoholics Anonymous (Meetings Monday evening, Thursday evening)
- Brownies and Girl Guides
Good Samaritan Fund
While much of our direct outreach occurs in the downtown core where the need is greater, we do maintain a Good Samaritan Fund which enables us to meet immediate pressing needs either of people in the neighbourhood, or whose needs are presented to us by others. This Fund, supported entirely by donations gathered at Christmas Eve and occasionally through the year, provides emergency grocery, transit, health, dental, rent and other needs. The Fund is administered by Doug Norris (staff Team Leader) and is entirely confidential.
Others call on us only as needed, when our space or our staff or both will make a difference, and we will try to be available whenever we can.
Very often we will be asked to provide space and/or staff leadership for honouring rites of passage – birth, marriage, and death. This is a privilege for us and we will be as available as we can. You can contact the office, or the Ministry staff.. You can find details about Weddings and Baptisms in these other sections of our website.
